Dohzumi
Trunk sumi. Large sumi that wraps down the lateral line.
Doitsu
German scales, incompletely scaled koi.
Dokazumi
Large sumi. Also called ohzumi.
Doroike
Mud pond.
Doware
Large, white area of pattern.
Echigo
Old name for Niigata Prefecture. Echigo ginrin includes beta-gin, kado-gin, tama-gin.
Egatacho
Book of Nishikigoi patterns that were hand drawn before cameras were invented.
Enyu
The Enyu is one of the midorigoi types bred by the late Tadao Yoshioka. It came from a cross between a male shusui and a female midorigoi.
Erythrophores
The pigment cells responsible for hi.
Flowery kohaku
Many small areas of hi. No recogonizable step pattern.
Fuji
The most metallic finish on the head of some young, nonmetallic koi.
Fukurin
Scale wrap. The cuticle of skin which appears as line drawn ring around a scale.
Funazoko Hi
Bottom hi. Asagi and shusui.
Gaku hi
Red on upper part of face (forehead).
Gata
Type, style, pattern.
Giku
Relates to the swimming mode of a koi with a deformed body.
Gin
Silver.
Gin Bekko
Metallic shiro bekko (hikari moyo)
Gin kabuto
Black koi whose scales have sliver edges
Gin matsuba
Metallic sliver koi with black ""pinecone"" Matsuba pattern in the scales (hikari utsuri)
